Portfolio of Setups
Balance different playbooks without stacking hidden correlated risk.
A mature trader may run multiple playbooks, but more setups do not automatically mean more diversification. If every setup depends on the same market, same session, same volatility condition, and same directional bias, losses may cluster together.
Evaluate setup correlation. Opening-range breakouts, trend pullbacks, and late-day continuation may all depend on momentum conditions. Failed auctions and range fades may perform better in responsive markets. Knowing which environment helps each setup prevents overexposure to one regime.
Allocate risk intentionally. Some playbooks deserve full size, some reduced size, and some should be observation-only until proven. A portfolio of setups should smooth decision-making, not create an excuse to trade all day.
