The Opening Drive
How strong open participation can set the tone for the session.
The opening drive is the first strong directional move after the regular session opens. It can reveal aggressive participation, especially when price leaves the open with speed, volume, and limited pullback.
A strong opening drive may continue if it breaks important levels and holds above or below them. But the open can also exhaust quickly if the move only runs stops and then fails. The difference is acceptance: does price hold the new area, or does it snap back into the prior range?
Trade the opening drive with caution. Volatility is high, spreads can move quickly, and emotions are elevated. Wait for a clean trigger, know the invalidation, and avoid chasing after the easy part of the move is already gone.
